About

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” (Isa. 40:31 NKJV)

History: On January 22, 2012, shaded under the beautiful and historic Aloha Tower, Pastor Elwin declared, “It’s Time!!” After months of praying, planning, and more praying, it was indeed time for New Hope Metro to launch it’s inaugural service. Beside the pristine aqua-blue waterfront of Honolulu Harbor thousands of well-wishers came to worship, celebrate and enjoy one of Honolulu’s newest and exciting places of worship. Speaking of “God’s Best Is Yet to Come,” Pastor Elwin reminded everyone of Isaiah’s declaration,

“Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder the things of the past. BEHOLD, I will do something new. NOW it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it?” (Isa. 43:18)

“Everybody ends up somewhere in life – few people end up somewhere ON PURPOSE,” exhorted Pastor Elwin, as he challenged the crowd to dream what that would mean for their life, for their family, for this church and for this city.

Over 1,100 people listened to what revealed centuries ago through His spiritual leaders in Abraham, Moses, Jonah, Nehemiah, who brought God’s message into the cities and how it continued through Jesus in the marketplace and Paul’s efforts to establish churches in the commerce centers. And how it continues today through the birth of New Hope Metro in the center of Honolulu’s business hub. “Just as the Aloha Tower serves as the iconic symbol of safety for ships sailing into Honolulu’s port, so must the Church be for people looking for a safe harbor to refresh, refuel and restore themselves, so that they can restart life each week,” said Pastor Elwin.

New Hope Metro will serve precisely this purpose through its teaching, equipping and discipling of its members, so that the greater community can be served reached for Christ.
